| Colossians 2I want you to know how hard I am working for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. | | |
| Is it wise
to swim across the lake and back by yourself,
with no one around to witness you sinking into the dark abyss but the fishies biting your toes?
Probably not.
But that didn't stop me from doing it anyway.
PS. That was a long damn way. It sure looked closer from the dock.

| Not that it really matters or anything, but I'm getting old. I am. And this isn't me going through a quarter life crisis (although I think you were right about that Brian) because I've already been through that and I'm coming out on the other side now. A happier side. Even so, I am old. I am. I was looking through my brother's 9th grade yearbook today while listening to some ungodly music on the radio to which I haven't a clue about what they're saying and I don't even want to try. Of course, my brother knows all the lyrics as well as every little "in" thing there is. He had to explain some things to me. And boy oh boy can he dance! Where on earth did that come from? He's like a male Shakira. or whatever. his hips don't lie. or whatever. Anyway, getting back to the "old" part...I'm starting to think like a grown-up, which is good because I am one, but also slightly sad because I don't want to lose my childlikeness. I hope I don't. Like I said before, it doesn't really matter...it just crossed my mind today. On my run this morning I encountered two very beautiful shades of pink peonies. I stopped to smell them and they smelled heavenly. They're my favorite flower - by far - and it made me laugh how God blesses us in ways that are so personal and special. I'm thankful for that - very thankful, in fact. A couple months ago a friend and I were talking about getting what we deserve in life. I think this was when I was going through my quarter life crisis and feeling sorry for myself. I asked her if she thinks we get what we deserve in the long run. She said no...we get more than we deserve - much more. I can't say what changed but I believe that now. If you don't think that's true I encourage you to open your eyes. And stop feeling sorry for yourself. Oh, and stop thinking that you're old. You're not that old. | | |
| Hey, I'm graduating tomorrow. I'm not really sure how I feel about it but it will happen nonetheless. I go from being relieved and excited about being done with homework and tests to being sort of depressed that I'm leaving the one place that has been like home to me for the past 4 years. I guess that's just it - there are good and bad aspects to it, just like there is with any change in life. Ah well. What I KNOW I'm excited about is moving into a new house with my highschool buddies Kimbo and Brsty. I'll get my own room (yea!) with a big window (yea yea!). Mind you, the room is tiny and I really only have room for a bed and a desk (or maybe a comfy chair instead of the desk - we'll see) but I'm still grateful to have my own space. There are 2 very cool things about my new room and I'm not sure which is cooler because they're both VERY cool (I just used some form of the word "cool" 3 times...no, 4 times there. Wow). Anyway, the first very cool thing about my room is that my closet is just about as big as my room and it actually has a sink, mirror, counter and cabinet in it! I think that could possibly by every girl's dream. It's definitely one of mine. If that wasn't cool enough, there's one other very fun thing about my room. The window in my room is right above this little "perch" of a roof. We call that perch a "deck" which it definately is not but it serves as one fairly well...as long as you stay balanced on it cause it really is just a perch. There's a ladder that goes from my little perch to the rooftop of our house. So that means I can hop out my window onto the "deck" and then climb up to the rooftop for some serious summer stargazing. Yep, pretty excited about that one. We can also climb out of our bathroom window to get to another "deck," which is actually the roof of our garage. That deck is alot safer and you don't need to be a bird to sit on it. I think it'll be a fun place to live. My dad seems to think so too...he calls my new place the "party pad"....but that's because there's enough alcohol on top of the fridge to keep a Russian army warm for the winter. I seriously don't know who drinks it though. Well, I think I'm gonna pack up some more stuff and head over there now. Later friends. Love ya. | | |
| In keeping with academia, I will present some of my current reflections in bullet-point form.
- It is beyond-gorgeous outside, which makes me eager to get out and go waterskiing. The only problem with living in the cities is that I have neither a boat nor skis. Possible solution: become fast friends with someone who has a speedy watercraft and learn how to barefoot. Yeah, that’ll work.
- This is a cool verse. I thought I’d share it with you.
“Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will never lack any good thing.” Psalm 34:10
- My hair is bone straight and there’s no telling it otherwise. If you do, it will just laugh at you and get even straighter. It’s pretty much a fact.
- The Nickel Creek concert on Saturday was outstanding. If you ever get a chance to go to one I definitely recommend it. Check out this music video for a taste:

That's it. Have a great day friends! | | |
